Indigenous Cropping & Farmer Services
Strengthening the production base
Through VLE run centres, farmers gain access to indigenous seeds, bio-inputs, agronomy guidance, and production support all from within their own village. The focus is on shifting fields back to climate-resilient indigenous crops like Khapli wheat and millets, improving soil health, and reducing dependence on chemical inputs.
Featured implementation: Feasibility study for a Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO). This work assesses the viability of forming an FPO around indigenous cropping systems in a cluster of villages mapping production capacity, farmer interest, governance models, and the supporting VLE infrastructure needed to make the FPO sustainable. The output directly shapes how we organise aggregation and shared services across multiple villages.
